LG G8s ThinQ

At the start of 2019, LG introduced three new devices. One of them is the G8s ThinQ with Hand ID. We haven't seen this unlocking technique in any other other device yet. You stick your hand up for the front camera, it will read your hand, and your G8s is unlocked in a secure way.

Besides taking selfies, the front camera also does face recognition. The 3.5mm port at the bottom is great for music fans, and the large screen is perfect for watching your favourite Netflix series.

Hand ID via ToF sensor

The Time of Flight and infra red sensors recognise your hand and your unique veins. This means you can unlock your smartphone without having to touch the G8s. This may come in handy while you're cooking, for example. These sensors can also be used for other things, like launching an app or controlling the volume.

Five camera lenses

The G8s is equipped with five camera lenses, so you'll always shoot the perfect photo. The 8-megapixel camera on the front shoots beautiful selfies, and the special ToF sensor measures depth, which enables Hand ID or Air Motion. The three rear cameras take normal photos as well as wide-angle photos, and they let you zoom a bit without loss of quality or creating noise.

6.2-inch OLED screen

The 6.2-inch display takes up a large part of the front, because a notch has been made to hold the sensors. This makes the bezels even thinner, so the G8s is still easy to use despite the large screen. The Full HD+ display is also very energy efficient thanks to the OLED technology.

Snapdragon 855 processor

To make sure that the G8s can handle any task, a Snapdragon 855 chipset has been placed under the hood. The 6GB of RAM ensures that the phone can easily run multiple tasks at the same time.

Glass design

Both the front and back are made of glass, so the phone feels very premium. Because the sides of the glass panels have all been rounded, the front and back flow seamlessly into the metal casing. There are no sharp corners, so the G8s handles very comfortably.

Battery with 3550mAh capacity

The battery has a 3550mAh capacity, which means that you can easily get through the day on a single battery charge. You'll also charge the battery in no time via the USB-C port at the bottom. Because the screen is very energy-efficient, your G8s can last even longer.

Enough storage space for the average user

128GB of internal storage is enough space to store all your favourite apps and lots of photos. After using the phone for a long time, you may run out of space. An online storage service is a great option for people who take lots of photos!

Android Pie 9.0

The Android 9.0 operating system offers lots of possibilities for manufacturers like LG. The G8s comes with LG's own LG UX skin that covers the operating system, so icons look slightly different. That also applies to the menu, and you'll find extra settings as well.
